Sr IT Project Manager

Optomi, in partnership with an industry-leading technology company, is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager for their Charlotte, NC location.

The Senior IT Project Manager will manage the project team through a balanced matrix, control project costs and scope, and interface directly with the client, project sponsor and business sponsors to understand business problems and opportunities to drive successful project goals.

  • Minimum of 7+ years IT Project Management experience
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, RUP, ITIL, SDLC, or other process methodologies
  • Experience leading multi-million-dollar IT projects/ programs
  • Working knowledge of MS Project or other PM tools
  • Joint Application Development session (JAD) facilitation experience or similar methodology to gather cross-functional requirements  
  • 5 experience working in a highly matrix and revenue driven environment
  • Extensive experience in use case documentation, data mapping, data analysis, test case creation, and traceability 
  • Strong business requirement analytical skills with the ability to produce clearly articulated documents 
  • PMP and/ or CSM Certification preferred

  • Manage multiple high stake and critical IT Projects & Initiatives in the areas of IT Infrastructure, Software Development, Business Transformation and Process Improvement.
  • Plan the Project: Schedule resources, develop project plans, and secure scope agreement from project sponsor. Conduct project kick-off meeting
  • Execute the Project: Carry out the project plan. Make plan adjustments as project issues or changes to the plan arise
  • Monitor and Control the Project: Mitigate risks, develop risk response plans, manage issues, create forecasts, manage costs, scope and resources, and provide communications. Deliver the final product. Complete the warranty period and handoff to appropriate support team
  • Close the Project: Submit final budget reports and status reports. Release the project team back to the resource pool. Conduct a lessons learned meeting
  • Report on the Project: Deliver weekly/monthly project reports required by senior leadership
  • Follow Process: Manage all aspects of the project with defined PM methodologies as defined by senior IT management.
  • Deliver on time and on budget projects based on the standard PM methodologies and documentation.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with the quality of the final product and manage customer expectations if the customer doesn’t find the final product to be satisfactory
  • Interact with project stakeholders by creating professional relationships and maintain stakeholder engagement throughout the life of the project
  • Effectively communicate with senior IT management and the project sponsor on status and issues affecting project delivery
  • Contribution to success of the project activities as measured by how effectively the project is managed through effective communication, deliverables met on time, creative and proactive problem solving, and quality of product delivered.
