Technical QA Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with an industry-leading technology company, is seeking a Technical QA Engineer for their Charlotte, NC location.

The Tech QA Engineer is a key member of the Automation QA Group and is responsible for providing automated testing services, both functional and non functional for various Web Services projects in the overall release pipeline.

The Tech QA Engineer will be expected to work in collaboration with the QA Manager as well as Senior Tech QA Engineers to provide a high standard of automated testing services to ensure that our Web Services products demonstrate the quality and polish the company stands for.

The Tech QA Engineer will work closely within a team of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Developers and other QA team members under Agile Methodology.

  • Strong knowledge of Web Services types and protocols.
  • 1+ years in a hands-on, Functional / Non Functional Automated Web Services Testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Web Services functional testing tools such us SoapUI is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in related discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, etc).
  • Excellent soft skills such as reporting, communication, etc.
  • Experience in consistently delivering against agreed timelines.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and good attention to detail, as well as ability to work both collaboratively and with limited supervision.
  • Strong hands-on Java and/or  Javascript programming experience.
  • Strong configuration management and code management skills using tools such as Subversion, Maven.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing automated test assets across complex, cross browser based applications, Web Services, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of functional testing tools such as Selenium, QTP, Rational Functional is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of non functional tools such as WebLoad, NeoLoad, LoadRunner, LoadUI, JMeter is preferred.
  • Experience using Jira or similar defect tracking tools desirable.
  • Experience of designing test cases in tools such as Quality Center is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with Senior Tech QA Engineers and the QA Manager in the provision of automated testing services for Web Services projects in the pipeline.
  • To develop, enhance and maintain well formed and scalable test frameworks for various functional and non functional stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • To develop, enhance and maintain high value test scripts for various Web Services functional and non functional testing.
  • To work with the team in the development of testing tools, utilities or applications to improve the efficiency of the QA group.
  • To interact with other members of the global QA function as well as with numerous disciplines within the business to the professional standard expected by the QA function.
  • To work closely within the team towards the continual improvement of the automation capabilities provided by the group.

Bonus Points

  • Experience developing Web Services is a plus.
  • Experience automating Flash/Flex is a plus.
  • Experience automating Windows client applications is a plus.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies is an advantage.
  • Prior exposure to gaming or gambling software is preferred.
