Senior / Lead Network Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with an industry leader in technology services, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for their Denver, CO office.

This Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and operational support of the Enterprise IP Network environments (Data, Video and Voice), including technical architecture and design activities, which focus on WAN, LAN, Network Security and high availability.


  • Expert level experience with at least two of the following: BGP, EIGRP and OSPF
  • 7+ Years of Enterprise Network Engineering experience (Preferably Lead or Principle level)
  • Expert level experience with Cisco iOS and NX-OS
  • 4+ years network security engineering experience with Palo Alto and/or Cisco ASA/ Pix firewalls
  • 3+ of experience engineering and supporting load balancing solutions with either F5, Citrix Netscalers, A10 or Brocade
  • CCIE certification or equivalent work experience


  • Opportunity to lead in the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of a complex, enterprise network in it's greenfield data center stage.
  • Work with all of the latest and greatest technologies to include Nexus 9k's (ACI mode), Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, Riverbed WAN Accelerators and cutting edge monitoring tools
  • Flexible hours (Come in Early or Late) and work remote 1 to 2 days per week
  • Work in a very collaborative team oriented environment


  • Highest level subject matter expert supporting the Enterprise Network Engineering team.
  • Co-development of strategy, architecture, & design activities for enterprise technology infrastructure, utilizing subject matter experts from the functional areas as well as external resources such as vendors, research firms, etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, design engineering and problem resolution of large WAN/LAN Cisco environment (routers, switches, firewalls, VPN and VOIP) in a complex, challenging operational environment.
  • Document problems and report to management, engineers and/or peers.
  • Coordinate and implement network changes including building configurations as necessary.
  • Compile statistics and reports as necessary on network performance and utilization.
  • Install and configures technical components and supporting software. Will own medium to large high-profile projects.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and business potential or impact (including prototyping)
  • May submit business cases for investment prioritization and justification
  • Evaluate and influence selection of vendors & products, facilitate proof of concept analysis
  • Participate in Architectural Review Process, ensuring architecture & design reviews are approved prior to implementation into production
  • Participate in any necessary Governance Committees, representing Enterprise Communications
  • Leadership and mentoring of team


  • Bachelor of Science degree or comparable certification in IT, telecommunications, computer science or related field is preferred.
  • 8+ years progressive experience in network technology infrastructure, including engineering support, architecture, design, implementation, and operations
  • Comprehensive hands-on experience working with Cisco Nexus switches
  • Thorough understanding of various network routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, IGRP, RIP
  • Knowledge of WAN communications mediums including: MPLS, Frame-relay, ISDN, SONET
  • Expert level skills with network security technologies such as IPSec VPN, VPN-tunneling, IPS/IDS, Palo Alto Firewalls and/or Cisco ASA/ Pix Firewalls
  • CCIE Certification or equivalent work experience


  • Knowledge of F5 or Netscaler Load balancers
  • Knowledge of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks
  • Experience with network management/monitoring applications is preferred
  • Knowledge of WAN capacity management including: sniffer and other management tools
  • Wide range of knowledge in Voice, Data, Industry trend solutions
  • Experienced as a member of a Disaster Recovery team
