Optomi, in partnership with a fortune 1000 industry leader for providing sustainable energy solutions, is seeking a Cyber Security Architect to lead the security architecture and best practices as it related to the internet of things (IOT), for their Charlotte, NC location!


The IoT Security Architect will act as a technical consultant for Internet of Things, and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT/IIoT) projects, and will promote reference architectures for securing IoT devices and applications. The successful candidate will drive security reference architectures, best practices, security testing support (in conjunction with Red Team and external pen testers), and design appropriate risk mitigations for meeting compliance and security requirements.

  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) Edge Hardware platforms (Edge/Fog computing, design for cloud connectivity)
  • Knowledge of physical and logical security methods implemented in Hardware (secure storage, anti-tamper, Hardware accelerated cryptography…)
  • Working knowledge of security frameworks and enterprise architecture for IoT
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of IoT including, device provisioning, commissioning, and remote device management layers
  • Various IoT technical concepts such as JSON, OAUTH, ZIGBEE, and MUD
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with proven ability to explain complex technical and security concepts to a non-technical audience. Specific relevant experience should include writing and present security assessment reports
  • At least 2 years of experience with IoT, IIoT, or OT development or management
  • Familiarity with the OWASP framework and application security best practices. Understanding of Software Security Architecture and Design, Agile, SDLC and the ability to clearly articulate best practices for application security
  • CISSP, CEH, and recognized industry certifications are highly preferred!


Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Advising vendors and staff engineers in the prototyping of IoT technologies to demonstrate conceptual operation and assess technical feasibility
  • Develop security framework and enterprise architecture for IoT
  • Write enterprise security standards for IoT, including interactions between IT, IoT, IIoT, and OT devices
  • Work with vendors to ensure secure development of devices to meet cybersecurity standards
  • Work with software developers to ensure secure development lifecycle of IoT-related apps
  • Participate in industry groups to further the field of IoT security
