Senior Network Engineer– Alpharetta, GA

Optomi, in partnership with a Global, Industry Leader for GPS navigation and mapping services is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for their Alpharetta, GA location.


The Senior Network Engineer will work on a team that is responsible for the design, configurations, implementation, support and administration of the company’s complex, global enterprise and service provider network and data centers.  This person will work on complex network problems that require in-depth evaluation of various factors primarily related to firewall, load balancer, routing and switching.

  • Expert-level working experience with Cisco iOS or Juniper JunOS including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Extensive working experience with network security devices such as Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX, Juniper Netscreens and/ or other IDP technologies.
  • Experience designing and supporting load balancing solutions with F5, A10, Cisco Ace or Citrix Netscalers.
  • CCNP/ JNCP or equivalent working experience 
  • Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols including, but not limited to MPLS, STP, LLDP, OSPF, BGP, VRF, VRP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploys and supports company WAN, LANs, WLAN and Wireless Networks, including: routers, switches, access points, firewalls, load balancers, VPN and other network related hardware 
  • Monitors network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
  • Will be primarily responsible for operations and troubleshooting to reduce the ticketing Que. 
  • Interact with Application Support Team in providing application troubleshooting, port configuration, Firewall monitoring, and switch port settings.
  • Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Will be available for Tier 3 support escalations of the Enterprise/Data Center Network Infrastructure as needed

Additional Competencies:

  • CCNP or JNCSP certification is highly preferred
  • Extensive experience with Load Balancing technology (preferably F5 or A10)
  • Experience troubleshooting network devices including but not limited to Juniper SRX or Netscreen firewalls, Cisco ASA firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Wireless Controllers and Access Points, and Riverbed Steelhead Controllers.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in various network technologies, services, and protocols that are typical of a large enterprise network including BGP, MPLS, OSPF, EIGRP, and QoS
  • Experience with Wireless Control Systems, Access Point, and 802.1x, PKI, EAP, TLS technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of Security including Cisco ASA 5500s, IDP technology, and Juniper SSG VPN/Firewalls
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Excellent organization skills including the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Ability to express issues and communicate with various vendors and their operations personnel.
