Optomi, in partnership with our energy client, are seeking an experienced Voice Engineer to join their team on a long term contract opportunity.
Job Summary:We are seeking a Senior Voice Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco VoIP technologies to join our network infrastructure team. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and support of enterprise voice systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and high availability across our communication platforms.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, configure, and support Cisco VoIP solutions including CUCM, Unity, UCCX, and Cisco gateways (ISR/CUBE)
- Lead and participate in VoIP system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments across enterprise environments
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues involving call quality, latency, jitter, and hardware/software faults
- Integrate Cisco voice systems with SIP trunk providers, voicemail, call recording, and collaboration tools
- Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, processes, and network voice diagrams
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support and mentor junior team members on VoIP best practices
- Ensure voice infrastructure complies with enterprise security standards and high-availability requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with network, security, and application teams on unified communication initiatives
- 5+ years of hands-on Cisco VoIP experience in an enterprise or large-scale environment
- Deep knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and related technologies
- Experience configuring and managing SIP trunks, CUBE routers, and voice gateways
- Strong troubleshooting skills for call routing, QoS, codec negotiation, and dial plan design
- Familiarity with Cisco Unity, UCCX, and VoIP system security best practices
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP Collaboration, CCIE Collaboration, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Cloud VoIP migration (e.g., Webex Calling, Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, Zoom Phone)
- Knowledge of call center platforms, IVR design, or integrated voice response systems
- Experience with network packet analysis tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds VoIP Monitor, etc.)
