Optomi, in partnership with our client, are seeking an experienced Director of IT to join their team on a direct hire basis. This role is hybrid requiring 3 days onsite per week.
We’re seeking a hands-on, strategic, Director of IT to build and scale our internal IT function from the ground up. Your mission will be to internalize and mature the IT operations—initially rolling up your sleeves to handle day-to-day IT needs while designing and executing a scalable tech roadmap that supports the long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all IT operations, from infrastructure and cybersecurity to help desk and vendor management.
- Standardize systems and processes as we bring new businesses onto our tech stack
- Transition from a fully outsourced model to a scalable, hybrid internal IT operation.
- Develop and implement IT policies, security best practices, disaster recovery, and compliance protocols.
- Provide hands-on support for users, systems, and network infrastructure during the initial phase.
- Lead IT budgeting, procurement, vendor evaluation, and ROI analysis.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and acquisition teams to ensure tech alignment and value creation.
Must-Have Experience:
- Hands-on expertise in Microsoft environments, including Azure infrastructure
- Experience with networking, system administration, firewalls, and security
- Strong grounding in IT compliance, data backup, and security best practices
- Track record of post-acquisition IT integration and system standardization
- Ability to handle day-to-day IT support in a lean environment
- Familiarity with CRM systems (ServiceTitan preferred, Salesforce/ServiceNow transferable)
- Skilled in project management, IT budgeting, and vendor selection
- Comfortable working in high-growth, ambiguous settings with limited structure
- Willingness to be 80–90% hands-on during the first phase
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Prior use of ServiceTitan
- Experience building IT teams or departments from scratch
- Background in PE-backed, construction, roofing, or field services
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Power BI, or ERP implementations
- Exposure to IT M&A due diligence and multi-site support
- Experience with compliance and regulatory standards
