From Bottlenecks to Breakthroughs: Optomi’s Hiring Model Boosts Efficiency by 90% for Financial Services Giant
April 29, 2025

CHALLENGE

A Fortune 500 financial services firm was preparing for a major upgrade to its insurance platform but struggled to build the necessary technical team. Previous attempts to hire through Contingent Labor Programs and traditional outsourcing partners had failed, plagued by cultural misalignment and restrictive conversion terms. The initiative required onboarding 40 skilled professionals, including Scrum Masters, Developers, and QA Engineers. The CIO valued retaining in-house knowledge by transitioning long-term consultants into full-time employees. However, internal recruiting efforts were stretching their HR and IT teams beyond capacity, creating bottlenecks and delaying progress.

SOLUTION

Frustrated by the ongoing challenges with previous partners, the client turned to Optomi to revamp their hiring strategy. Optomi introduced a segmented hiring model, assembling a specialized 6-person QA team that included a Team Lead, QA Automation Engineers, and Manual Testers to support all insurance-related QA and automation initiatives. To improve efficiency, Optomi implemented cross-functional teams and adopted a staggered hiring approach. They ensured that at least 50% of candidates were open to full-time opportunities and only submitted candidates who fully met the hiring criteria, minimizing friction and offering greater flexibility for hiring managers.

IMPACT

Impressed with Optomi’s resolution, the client removed other Scrum Master, Java Developer, and QA positions from their MSP program and doubled Optomi’s team size. This partnership led to a significant boost in hiring efficiency, improving the submittal-to-interview ratio by 90%, from 10:1 to an impressive 1:1. Additionally, 75% of the candidates presented by Optomi were selected for engagement, reflecting the precision and quality of their recruiting process.

Optomi solved the client’s hiring bottleneck by simplifying processes, improving candidate quality, and creating a flexible hiring model. Through Optomi’s cross-functional QA approach, the client gained a lasting, reliable partner by building an efficient, long-term team and improved project outcomes beyond hiring efficiency.
